If you miss more than SEVEN days of school in one semester, the extra absences must be made up in Attendance Study Lab (ASL).
If you are at home, please understand it is YOUR responsibility to view the Google Classroom daily, write notes from the Classkicks, and complete any assignment by the due date. Due dates will still apply to you even if you are learning from home. IF you are sick, please contact me via email so that we can make a plan to keep up with assignments.

I do not allow students to turn in homework or classwork after the due date. If there are extenuating circumstances, please communicate that with me and I will work with you!
Learning does not happen while staring at your phone. Cell phones will not be permitted in the classroom during instruction. Please understand that this includes smartwatches and headphones. Every day you will turn your cell phone into your "pouch" in the back of the classroom.
If you are caught with your cell phone (or smart watch or headphones), the first offense will be a minor referral. On the second offense, the phone will be placed on the teachers desk, a minor referral will be sent to the office and a phone call will be made home. On the third offense, a major referral will be sent to the office.
I understand sometimes your parents need to get ahold of you. If this is the case, they can reach you during class changes or they can call the front office at 828-645-4221. Mrs. Hale at the front desk will get you the message!
*This is a school wide policy, as stated in the NBHS Student Handbook.

To prevent distractions during instruction, you may use the bathroom at any time during class (without having to ask) as long as you follow these expectations:
- Your cell phone must stay in the pouches in the back of the room.
- You must sign out before you leave, giving the time you are leaving and returning.
- You are required to take a hall pass with you and turn it in when your return to the classroom.
- Make sure there is only ONE person out of the room at a time.
- You may only leave once during class.
- You must keep your bathroom visits as short as possible. If you have been gone too long, I will come looking for you.
